Chat with Uppie in Slack (DMs, @mentions and linking your account)

Once your agency has connected Slack, anyone on your team with an UpHex login can ask Uppie questions in Slack. You can DM it or mention @UpHex in a channel.

  1. In Slack, open Apps in the left sidebar and select UpHex. If it's not there, click Add apps and search for UpHex.
  2. Send any message, like "hi".
  3. Uppie replies with a Link my UpHex account link. It works for 15 minutes.
  4. Click it, sign in to UpHex if asked, and confirm.

That's it. Uppie now knows who you are in UpHex, and it only sees the clients you can see there. If you mention @UpHex in a channel before you've linked, the link is sent privately to you ("Only visible to you").

Step 2: Ask in a direct message

DM the UpHex app with questions like:

  • "How did ad spend look last week across my clients?"
  • "Which client had the most leads this month?"
  • "How is Acme Plumbing's Google campaign doing?"
  • "Show me yesterday's new leads for Acme Plumbing."

Uppie answers in a few seconds. You'll see "Uppie is thinking…" while it works. Reply in the same thread to ask follow-up questions; Uppie remembers the conversation in that thread.

Step 3: Mention @UpHex in a channel

  1. Invite the app to the channel: type /invite @UpHex in the channel.
  2. Ask your question with an @mention, for example: @UpHex how did spend look last week across our clients?
  3. Uppie answers in a thread under your message, so everyone in the channel can see it.

What Uppie can and can't do in Slack

  • Read-only. Uppie can look up spend, leads, campaigns and client performance. It can't change budgets, pause or launch campaigns, or update leads from Slack. Ask for a change and Uppie tells you exactly what to change and where to do it in UpHex.
  • Lead details stay private. Lead names and contact details are only shown in a DM with the UpHex app. In channels, Uppie only shares totals like lead counts and spend.
  • Your access, nothing more. Uppie answers with the same client access your UpHex login has.
  • Fair use. Each person can ask Uppie up to 40 questions per hour in Slack. If you hit the limit, Uppie asks you to wait a little.
