Setting Up A Facebook Pixel The Easy Way! Use Smart Tracking

How to Set Up Facebook Pixel Tracking in UpHex
Setting up a Facebook Pixel can be confusing, but UpHex simplifies the process so you don’t need to work directly inside Facebook Ads Manager. Smart Tracking in UpHex allows you to bypass needing to access FB alltogether!

Follow the steps below to properly set up tracking for your campaigns.
Step 1: Access Tracking Codes
  1.  Go to your UpHex dashboard
  2.  Click on the client account you want to set up tracking for
  3.  Click on the “More” tab
  4.  Select “Tracking Codes”

You’ll see a feature called Smart Tracking.

Step 2: Install the Tracking Code

  •  Copy the Smart Tracking code
  •  Paste it into the header section of every page you want to track on your website

This could include:

  •  Landing pages
  •  Thank you pages
  •  Any page where user actions should be tracked

Where to install it:

  •  GoHighLevel → Settings (header tracking section)
  •  WordPress → Header scripts/plugins
  •  Any website builder → Head tracking code section

This step creates the connection (pixel) between your website and Facebook.

Step 3: Set Up Conversion Rules

Next, you’ll define what actions count as conversions.

  1.  Click “Configure Conversion Rules”
  2.  This opens the Smart Tag Manager
  3.  Select your Facebook Pixel (must match the ad account you're using)

Step 4: Create a Conversion Rule

  1.  Click “Add Rule”
  2.  Give your rule a clear name (e.g., Landing Page Lead Form)
  3.  Choose a Trigger Type:
    •  Page View
    •  Form Submit
    •  Click

Common Setup (Recommended)

Page View Trigger (Thank You Page):

  •  Use “Contains” instead of exact match
  •  Example: /thank-you
  •  This ensures tracking still works even if URLs vary slightly

Form Submission Trigger:

  •  Fires when a form is submitted
  •  Can apply to:
    •  All forms (default), or
    •  A specific form using a CSS selector

Step 5: Define the Conversion Event

  •  Choose the event type (most commonly Lead)
  •  This tells Facebook what action you want to track

Then:

  •  Enable server-side event forwarding (CAPI)
  •  Save the rule

This step tells Facebook:
👉 “When this action happens, count it as a lead (or other event).”

Step 6: Set the Optimization Event in Your Campaign

Inside your campaign/template:

  1.  Go to Step 1 (Campaign Setup)
  2.  Find Conversion Event
  3.  Select the event you want to optimize for (usually Lead)

⚠️ Important:

  •  The event selected here must match the event defined in your conversion rule
  •  Your ads can track multiple events, but can only optimize for one

Summary

There are three key parts to proper tracking:

  1. Tracking Code → Installed on your website
  2. Conversion Rules → Define what actions count as conversions
  3. Campaign Optimization Event → Tells Facebook what to optimize for

When all three are aligned, your campaigns will track and optimize correctly.
