How to Create Facebook Ads Using UpHex

UpHex's template builder lets you create Facebook ad templates with a 5-step process. You can configure campaign types including Standard Lead Gen, Time-bound (Lead Gen with an end date), and Awareness (Brand Reach) campaigns. Templates can target B2C consumers or B2B business owners, with offer types of Direct Response or Lead Magnet.

How to make a Landing Page ad

There is no Destination Type and no Landing Page option in the template editor. Where people go after they click is chosen when you launch the campaign, not while you build the template.

If you used Create Template → Facebook → Exit Wizard & Go To Template Editor (or Manual Creation), UpHex opens a Standard Lead Gen template. On that template, Step 4 / Capture Lead Info only shows Facebook Lead Form and Messenger. That is expected, not a missing setting.

To send people to your landing page and optimize for leads:

  1. Keep this template. Do not recreate it, and do not switch Campaign Type to Awareness to unlock a URL field.

  2. Launch the template on a client.

  3. On the Goal step, choose Landing Page — not Facebook Lead Forms, and not Website Traffic.

  4. Paste the landing page URL and select the Meta Pixel.

  • Landing Page sends people to your page and optimizes for leads (Pixel).

  • Website Traffic also sends people to a URL, but it optimizes for clicks, not form leads.

  • Facebook Lead Form keeps the lead on Facebook (Instant Form). Use this when you want the in-ad form.

Step 1: Info (Template Configuration)

  1. Navigate to My Library: Go to the Template Library page and make sure you are on the "My Library" tab.

  2. Create New Template: Click the "Create Template" button.

  3. Name Your Template: Enter a descriptive name for the ad so you and your clients can see what the offer is all about at a glance (leads will not see this).

  4. Enabled:

    • Toggle Off: If you don't want clients to see it yet.

    • Toggle On: If you want it live and usable.

  5. Categorize: Add the template to a relevant category (this is to keep your library organized).

  6. Campaign Type: Choose from Standard (Lead Gen), Time-bound (Lead Gen with an end date), or Awareness (Brand Reach). This is the template category. It is not a destination picker. There is no Landing Page or Destination Type choice on this step.

  7. Business Type: Select B2C (Consumers) or B2B (Business Owners).

  8. Offer Type: Choose Direct Response (Offers) or Lead Magnet (Content).

Under Campaign Settings (collapsed by default), you can also configure:

  • Ad Structure: Choose one ad set with multiple images (recommended) or multiple ad sets with one image each.

  • Advantage+ Settings: Configure Facebook's Advantage+ optimization settings.

  • Placement: Keep "Automatic Placement" (recommended) or choose "Manual Placement" for specific locations.

  • Dynamic Creative: Keep OFF when starting out; turn ON later once your ad is consistently performing well.

  • Conversion Event: Configure your conversion event settings. Where leads go — Facebook Lead Form, Messenger, or your website — is chosen when you launch the campaign, not on the template.

Under Additional Settings (collapsed by default):

  • Special Ad Categories: Select if your ad relates to housing, credit, employment, or politics.

  • KPIs: Set performance thresholds for the template.

  • GoHighLevel Tags: Add tags for GHL workflow automation when leads come in.

  • UTM Parameters: Add custom UTM tracking parameters for your landing page URLs.

Step 2: Content (Ad Text)

  1. Headline: Fill in the main headline of your ad.

  2. Link Description: Add a brief description under the headline.

  3. Primary Text: Write the main body of your ad.

  4. Call to Action Button: Choose a button (e.g., "Learn More").

  5. Custom Values:

    • Use: To personalize your ad for different clients or locations. Create one ad for thousands to use.

    • Format: #{{city_name}}, #{{business_name}}, etc.

Step 3: Media (Ad Media)

  1. Upload: Add images or videos to your ad.

  2. Thumbnail (for Videos): Include a thumbnail image for videos.

  3. Multiple Media: You can add several images and/or videos.

  4. Media Format: Choose your preferred ad format (individual images, carousel, etc.).

  5. For Facebook, 1080x1080 is the recommended ratio as it adjusts to most platforms well.

  6. AI Image Generation: You can also generate images using AI directly from this step.

Step 4: Lead Capture / Capture Lead Info

For Standard Lead Gen templates, this step only offers Facebook Lead Form and Messenger. A website or landing-page destination is chosen on the Goal step at launch, not here.

  1. Lead Form: Configure a Facebook Lead Gen form that opens inside the app. Includes:

    • Form Settings

    • Background Image

    • Greeting: Optional, add a reminder of the offer.

    • Questions: Set up questions to collect information (name, phone, email are defaults).

    • Privacy: Add disclaimer title, text, and privacy policy URL.

    • Completion: Customize the confirmation page headline, description, and call-to-action.

  2. Messenger Ads: Configure Facebook Messenger ad settings and welcome messages.

  3. Tracking Code: Add tracking pixels or custom code.

  4. EZ Form: Only appears if EZ Suite is installed and this template has EZ Form questions. This is not a hosted UpHex landing page. EZ Pages are no longer offered.

Step 5: Targeting

  1. Audience Targeting: Set demographics (gender, age range), language, and default radius for local campaigns.

  2. Offer and Avatar: Define your target customer and offer details. Use the "Fill Automatically" AI button to auto-generate this.

  3. Detailed Targeting: Add interests, behaviors, and demographics. Use the "Suggest Targeting" AI button for AI-powered suggestions.

  4. Advantage+ Audiences: Optionally disable Facebook's audience expansion if you need strict targeting.

  5. Caution: Avoid overly specific targeting, as it can limit reach.

Save Your Template

  • Click "Save Template" at the top right or bottom of any step to save your template at any time.

Additional Notes:

  • AI tools are available throughout the builder: Writing Assistant for ad copy, AI Targeting Suggestions, AI Image Generation, and automatic Offer/Avatar generation.

  • Clearly label templates if they are for specific offer types.

  • When launching a Landing Page ad, pick Landing Page on the Goal step and connect the click-through to the correct URL. Do not look for that destination in the template editor.
